Telehealth Services
What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is the practice of therapy using technology, such as video or audio to conduct our sessions. I will be using an encrypted program that protects our connection.

Are There Risks to Telehealth?

As with any use of technology, there are some risks. Because we are not in the same physical space, I cannot control your environment, which means there is a small possibility that your confidentiality could be compromised. I encourage you to choose a private, quiet space where you will not be interrupted during your session. For your safety, I will also confirm your location at the start of each session in case of an emergency.

Who is Telehealth Appropriate For? Can Kids See you Via Telehealth?

Everyone is welcome to meet with me via telehealth! I have experience working with clients of all ages in a virtual setting, though some age groups tend to be more successful than others. Teens (12 and older) and adults generally do very well with telehealth, as they can independently manage the session. Children under 12, however, may need additional support to stay engaged and comfortable online. For younger clients, I recommend that a parent or caregiver be present during the session. I may also suggest shorter sessions to help make our time together as effective and positive as possible.

Can You Do Play Therapy Via Telehealth?

Yes! Play therapy can absolutely be done via telehealth. While it may look a little different from being in a traditional playroom, we will still engage in playful and creative activities together during our sessions. This may involve gathering a few simple materials from around your home to help make the experience more interactive and effective. That said, in-person sessions are generally recommended for children under 12. If meeting in person isn’t possible, your therapist will help determine whether telehealth play therapy is an appropriate and beneficial option for your child.

Since You Are Using Telehealth, Can You Treat Anyone in Any Location?
Because I am licensed in both California and Arizona, I am only able to provide therapy to clients who are physically located in one of those states. If you travel or temporarily leave the state (even for a vacation!), I may not be able to continue sessions while you are outside the areas covered by my licenses.

Can I do a mix of in-person and telehealth?

Yes! Based on our goals and needs, we can explore what would be best for you at any given time during your treatment. Please let me know what is most comfortable to you.
